I find the latter preferable to the latter.Beyond that, it's personal preference as well. It went straight to desktop view. Royalty OEM activation at this point used generic XP keys which simply provoked OEM validation. That laptop seems to have gotten better since the latest Windows 8.1 updates...we'll see if the problem comes back...
