Big manufacturers don't want this bill passed. There will be ebay listings (mostly in ebay.com) that sell scrap parts from broken/second hand laptops. I called Dell today and they said that while my laptop is covered under warranty until January of 2015, that this problem is not covered under my "Limited Warranty". Tell them to fix this defect in material/workmanship or you will force them to honor the warranty through court order.
